Home from Holidays

After a great three week road trip, we arrived home to face an overgrown yard, over-ripe raspberries, and a kitchen filled with fruit flies (thanks to me forgetting to grab for the road the couple of bananas on the counter).

On the plus side, we all enjoyed the holiday, our tomatoes look fantastic (thank you Danielle!!), and not very many of our peas were past their prime (again, thanks to me being so late planting this year!)

Now, it's time to pack the rest of our summer plans into the remaining days of summer.

By the way, to rid yourself of fruit flies, pour a bit of juice into a small bowl (or bowls if you have a large infestation). Cover that bowl completely with plastic wrap. Use an elastic around the top if you can to get the plastic wrap as tight as possible. Poke some holes in the plastic wrap. Wait for the juice to entice the little things through the holes of your plastic wrap. If you've properly wrapped your bowl, the flies cannot escape. Victory will be yours in about three days.

  1. Hey, your yard looks like mine and I didn't even go anywhere, LOL! Welcome home.

  2. Welcome home!
Your yard looks so lush, I love it.
A neighbor recently cleaned up their yard, it was overgrown like crazy but every time I walk past I mounr its loss. I like the Secret Garden look:)

Thanks for the fruit fly tip! I detest those icky things

  3. Thanks for the tip. I don't know why I continually buy entire bunches of bananas when I live alone and the only last like 3 days. But I do.
