New year so time for a new project.
Over the past few years I've started a new project every January and never got more than a few months into it before I withered away completely.
- Project Life. I lasted until June.
- Monthly layouts. I kept it going until May.
- A photo a day with a calendar style one page layout. I don't think I even finished March.
But as I say, a new year so a new project is underway.
This year I am again doing a photo a day, but with some focus. I'm using Katrina Kennedy's Capture Your 365 daily prompts (see January's prompts here). I also signed up for the daily e-mail that reminds me of the each days prompt, and includes photography tips and challenges aimed not just as taking photos, but taking good photos and then better photos.
My own goal with this project is a little different than usual as well. Normally most everything I do focuses on the kids and our lives together. But with this project I want to change that focus ever so slightly so that I capture more of my life, and the things around us that would not normally ever be included in anything else I do. The prompts should help with this. I won't always follow the prompts, but I'm going to try to follow most of them.
I have finished week one. I didn't follow the prompts the first two days, but then did for the remainder of the week. I have to say, I'm happy with the week. My latte and I make an appearance. I took a macro photo by flipping the lens around and holding it on my DSLR. Never done that before. I also actually went out into the snowy yard to look for a some photo opportunities, and believe me, I would not normally have ventured out by myself in the dead of winter with the camera, but I happened to catch Red-Breasted Nuthatch.
So, my first week has been a success. And, even if this project doesn't last too terribly long, at least I will have spent some time with my camera taking lots of photos and hopefully learning and trying some more new things along the way.
